Instructional Decision Making and Planning
The overarching goals of the Instructional Decision-Making and Planning Institure are to:
- Deepen understanding of the research-based instructional approaches and strategies that inform and scaffold standards-based planning and instructional decision-making
- Enhance the capacity of instructional leaders to implement, support, and sustain an effective lesson-planning model to improve teaching practice and student learning
- Define how formative and summative assessments are essential to monitoring students' academic growth and informing teachers' instructional decision-making before, during, and after instruction
- Describe how class and student profiles are helpful tool to inform instructional decision-making and planning
- Identify research-based instructional strategies that are key to instructional planning
- Use a protocol to study student work as evidence of effective planning and instruction
- Develop a professional development plan on lesson planning for each school community
- Identify how the Classroom Walkthrough process enhances leadership capacity and supports communities of practice focused on student learning
- Use the LEARN lesson design as a model for teacher planning
